for the love of props

My girl and I got out for a bit of shopping this afternoon. We headed to Old Navy and found these SUPER cute umbrellas. I LOVE LOVE umbrellas, rain boots, hats of all kinds, chairs, benches, buckets, old suitecases and all sorts of other things that most people think are wierd but, that add great texture and interest to an image. I love it when clients bring thier own stuff to use as props, having your own stuff in pictures makes it more YOU. Even still, I love shop so I tend pick up things here and there to add to a session as it’s needed.

With my new finds and the beautiful weather I had an itch to go shoot. We rushed home about 15 minutes before sunset and out to the country road behind our neighborhood. With no time to waste, I plopped her down in the middle of the street and started shooting.  We had to pause a few times for cars but, we had fun.

Happy New Year!

After a lazy morining watching home videos and the rose bowl parade we needed to get out of the house. So we headed to the park. I took my camera with as I tend to due. As always to capture my kids but, today I also wanted to practice with my 50mm 1.4. You see I am a zoom lens girl. I think this is because I mainly shoot kids and since they are so stinking fast and all over the place I need a more versital lens to make up for what my feet can not do. I am just not that fast. I love my zoom lens it is wonderful. But, I LOVE the image that come with shooitng as wide open a possible so I need to practice before I botch a clients session and before I invest in the 50 mm 1.2L. When I boght this lens I went economical because it was my first fixed lenght (prime) lens and since I’ve always been a zoom girl I thought it best to play it safe. This lens is proving itself so I can imagine how wonderful the 1.2L must be. Maybe later this year…
