Today Joshua helped in leading our church worship by playing guitar. This was somewhat last minute for Joshua and he had a bit of brushing up on his guitar skill to do. It has been many years since he has truly played the guitar and In addition he needed to learning a handful of songs, one of which guitar tabs could not be found. Normally there is a pianist to assist but, she is going to have a baby at any moment so a fill in was needed. We have a very simple worship, singing mostly hymns lead by the piano and a vocalist. So as you might imagine no piano is a bit of a shock to the worshiping congregation.
Joshua seemed as cool and collected as he always does but, I was a knot of nerves. I couldn’t look at him for fear of laughing from nerves and that would have been bad because then he would have defiantly screwed up.
In the end Joshua came through and did a great job.
As I am writing this I am thinking about our friends that are worship leaders…You know who you are
you all have an amazing talent. Seriously talented, every one of you. You are also probably laughing a bit because you know Joshua.
Yesterday while I was helping Joshua practice, by accompanying him, I was thinking, this is probably like what it is for Jacinda and Brian sometimes. Except, Jacinda can sing. Luckily Joshua loves me and looks past my off key voice
Mandy, do you sing with Dave?
He will get a bit more practice at the evening service tonight and I’m sure all will go well.
Thank you lord for the gifts you give each of us.
