Happy New Year!

After a lazy morining watching home videos and the rose bowl parade we needed to get out of the house. So we headed to the park. I took my camera with as I tend to due. As always to capture my kids but, today I also wanted to practice with my 50mm 1.4. You see I am a zoom lens girl. I think this is because I mainly shoot kids and since they are so stinking fast and all over the place I need a more versital lens to make up for what my feet can not do. I am just not that fast. I love my zoom lens it is wonderful. But, I LOVE the image that come with shooitng as wide open a possible so I need to practice before I botch a clients session and before I invest in the 50 mm 1.2L. When I boght this lens I went economical because it was my first fixed lenght (prime) lens and since I’ve always been a zoom girl I thought it best to play it safe. This lens is proving itself so I can imagine how wonderful the 1.2L must be. Maybe later this year…

Merry Christmas {part 2}

We spent Christmas Day with the Frese side of the family. Pictured above is 7 of 10 cousins {not including the 2 that will be arriving in 2009} The Frese family is a prolific bunch. We have only contributed 2 of the 12 :) I’m so glad we got them all in a picture with out one or more of them{usually mine} crying. They are even in birth order.

As you could imagine Christmas morning with 7 children 5 and under is a fun, messy and busy moringing.  We were all ready for a rest at nap time, except maybe Zaiah.

This evening the other 3 cousins will be joining us and hopefully we can get a picture of all 10 togeather. I know grandma would LOVE it.

Blessings!

the sad state of my blog

Sorry all, my blog is in a sad state. About a month ago I made a tragic mistake and deleted a little folder on my server and POOF! by by 99% of my images. And no I do not have a back up because I am not smart sometimes. My host told me that they could repair my site from their back up but the entirety of my domain would revert back to April. As sad as it is I have dealt with the loss and am forging ahead.

In addition to that it has been a busy coupple of months. Between family and business, I am working as much as I possible to tie up many loose ends for many clients, processing the many fall family sessions and all the while maintaining my sanity, marriage and mommy-ness. So for those of you who have emails and or called with in the last week please be patient with me I am working my way through the list and I will get back to you soon.

These images are of my son. He turned 3 years old last week. I can not believe how much he has grown in the last year. We had an impromptu photo session this morning on our way home from brunch with a friend. I had to seize the moment because at the pace I’ve been lately he probably wouldn’t have gotten his 3 year pictures taken until January. I am so thankful that he was in a cooperative mood :)

Happy birthday my sweet boy, I love you!

Soon I will be posting from some recent sessions. So check back soon.

Hume Lake

This past weekend we headed up to Hume for some dedicated family time. No house work, yard work, photo work… NO WORK just play, eat and sleep. As is customary, when in Hume, we walked around the lake. I think it is about 2 miles. And since our kids are big enough to walk and explore we decided to let them go free.
My Joshua is such a great dad and he really shines in these situations. If it was up to me I’d walk as fast as I could for the exercise but, Joshua stops to take it all in. He turns over rocks to look for bugs to show the kids, he talks to them about how the lake was made, sees a solitary lady bugs on a leaf, gives the kids a shoulder ride when they get tired out all with a smile. I love him! O, and lets me carry my camera and take pictures the whole time.
The images above a a few of my favorites…they are all my favorites. Since I wanted to share them all I put up a little sideshow to share.
When we returned home we had a few hours to get the house back to normal and to spend time together before Joshua headed down south for work. He is going to be gone all week and I miss him so much.
